The current value of a property minus the starting value of the property.
Example: Cindy's home is appraised at $150,000. When Cindy entered the program, the home was appraised at $100,000. $150,000 - $100,000 = $50,000. There is $50,000 of appreciation equity in the house.
The share of appreciation equity assigned to participants.
Refers to an equity split in which the participant receives 50% of the appreciation equity of the home.
Cindy chose a 50/50 equity split. The amount of appreciation equity assigned to Cindy is 50% of $50,000, or $25,000.
